Park Playground at 107 129 Addington Road

CLOSED Thank you for using the BrookONline Notify Application, and for your comments regarding Schick Park. As a preliminary measure we have made our Park Ranger aware of this situation. He will reach out to the contact list from Schick Park to ask that the dog owners better manage their dogs and keep them on the lawn areas and out of the hardcourt and playground areas. In addition, the Park Rangers will visit the park during the morning hours to speak directly with the regular Green Dog participants and let them know of your very reasonable concern. If needed, we can also make temporary signage to help communicate the message. When there is repeat non-compliance in an area, the Park and Recreation Commission has removed the off-leash program. We will also reach out to the Friends of Schick Park to ask for their help communicating with the park users and their neighborhood listserve. Adding a fence that bisects such a small park is actually a larger design issue and may do more harm than good regarding the dogs (it could become more of a destination dog park) and it will interrupt the flow between the two sides of the park. Schick Park is on the Capital Improvement Program for renovation within the next 6 years. At that point in time we will have a public process to review all elements within the park, make a plan for renovation and discuss the desirability, or not, of more fencing within the park. - almost 11 years ago #4720

1) Dogs are allowed on the field until 9am, but during this time some dogs run from the field onto the basketball court or near the adjacent children's play area. Installing a fence around the perimeter of the field would create a safe separation.
